doesn't the 8600 belong to the faulty nvidia series (the problem doesn't only affect notebook chips)? unfortunately i have a 8600 too but it works so far. :p

the problem doesn't necessarily have to be the graphics card though. could also be some power problem.

Thanks for all the advice, i have been really busy and havent had a chance to try out any of those things... but i didn't need to. I just opened my computer and saw the video card was MELTED...lol, i guess thats what caused the smell...
So i guess its time for a new one, i have my eyes on the 9800 GTX...

Well, I thought i should say that i bought a new video card...it is the [BFG Tech]
Nvidia 9800 GT OC from Newegg.com for $90 (a Thanksgiving special)

check if power is eneough dont melt it too.

lol, it wasn't the power, but the fan. It failed and melted its case. Now i think i will dust m computer every week...don't want to fry another one, lol
