i think i have figured out the problem, the model has no roof as it were on the ceiling polys, so the level light is flooding out the models light. i shall redo the mesh and try that

Sorry, I missunderstood your last post. My fault. The problem is not the level light but the values for the skills you set: they're too low. Try and set skill1 to 300, skill2, 3 and 4 each to 255. THat should work.
