ello OP Senior Expert Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 8,939 planet.earth	damn shit... the hd is definately broken. so i think i need to go to a recovery service. at least there is a good one in a town not too far away and they create a free diagnosis and list of files so one can choose and only pay for the files needed. anyhow, i hate the manufacturer of this shitty HD. it lasted only three month. thats nothing...

I've the feeling this is deactivated as default on quite some boards - it really worked out for me in December where my rather new hard drive decided to die slowly and thanks to S.M.A.R.T. It might take them a few days to respond, but they will. I know. I have had to go through this. Yesterday evening my Seagate Barracuda with 500GB (3 months old) dies too on this "BOOT OF DEATH" The HD doesnt occuring in BIOS since that. So I took a look in the Seagate-forums and saw a mass of people having the same problem.
