Is this your first project?
I really like the idea, but the last fight you posted looks a little bit boring... you could speed it up a little and make undexpected turns in the Bosses behavior...

I don't have a homepage, for god's sake!

To be honest, I had the fight slowed down a little bit for the video because I didn't want my poor reflexes to interfere. I'm going to double the speed of the projectile attack, increase the turret's spinning acceleration, and add some more quick changes in direction.

This is and isn't my first project. I have been trying different ideas like frameworks for different genres, but this is my first project that I'll be seeing through to completion.

I've finally started replacing textures! My friend who I mentioned earlier was too busy with college stuff to work on textures, but as a high school senior who manages the few assignments I get very well, I have copious amounts of spare time!

The textures are based on the ones from standard.wad in design, but have a cleaner look matching the somewhat cartoony visual style of the characters.

I played through the first level with the new textures in the latest video:

Thanks for all your comments!

Hey dude great video. I'm guessing the cat has super powers or something. Otherswise i would consider changing the metal cube to a wood cube because the cat is effortlessly moving a metal cube that is at least twice his size. Kinda looks weird wink. The wooden cube might look more realistic. You could also make it so that he needs the suit to move heavier cubes like the metal one. Otherwise it looks like a pretty fun game wink.

For some reason I've started getting comments about the small cat moving the big cube a lot lately even though it's been there from the start!

I'm probably going to change it to a large cardboard box, and will also have those that only the suit can move... also an animation for the cat moving it

on a side note, the cat has a power, but just the kind that lets him solve puzzles, use machinery, be capable of tactical combat decisions, etc.

The super cat could just be the suit. I mean take iron man for example. The human himself isn't anything special. The suit is what make him God. I was refering to the cat himself.

I was just trying to help him make the game more believable. I'd maybe call him Iron Cat, sorta like an Iron man parody. XD.

Indeed, the suit provides MOST of the powers. He gets to be super because he can push buttons and stuff, though there may be upgrades that give the cat some sort of other power useable outside the suit.

Currently the only upgrade available is the blaster, which allows you to shoot bolts of plasma out of your hand.

Hooray! This project contributed (at least a little I think) to my getting accepted now at Carnegie Mellon University as I just was informed of this today! I'm going to go study computer science and a description of and pictures of this game were in my portfolio... laugh

In Supercat-related news:

I'm now working on the second boss, an epic battle against a robot turtle that takes place while the player is standing on a rock and lava-surfing! So far I'm working on the paths to get the movement for the rocks to flow along the lava current smoothly...
of course a fight this epic means that the previous level boss (the tank) is going to be ranked down to mini-boss status as a the electric level boss is to be added.
