Hello I'd like to ask xou if you tested to run gamestudio on a netbook. Is this possible? I'd like to program while traveling and thats not possible with my desktop PC so I thought about buying a netbook. Has anyone already tested this and what requirements shoud that thing fullfil

It'll run on any windows xp and higher.

That it needs win xp seems totally clear to me but what about a 3d card

just saying a net book isnt going to tell us enough information to tell you how fast its going to run. but if it runs xp 3dgs will run.

I have the Asus EeePC 900, (1GB Ram, 1MHz, WinXP)
it can run my A6 games and editors fine.

The framerate is also quite good, but
I have not tested if shaders work.

framerate in a game, to test on a low end system.

The Netbooks have sufficient power to run
casual 3D (that should be created with focus on
FPS efficiency). But I suggest to
put an external keyboard + mouse into your suitcase
if you want to work in your hotelroom
without getting frustrated.

But If you need to "seriously" develop while travelling,
it might be better to get a bigger laptop instead.

If you are getting a laptop for 3d dev, I'd recommend that you at least get a one with a GeForce 7400 or ATI HD3200. Those are still quite cheap and have sufficient power to run ShaderModel 3.0 shaders. I myself have some experience of a GeForce 7400 which is a bit weaker than HD3200. It ran F.E.A.R. quite well on low settings and a simple HDR demo with about 8fps.

Shaders above a certain version won't run on your netbook, coz it has only a onboard graphics chip. (Intel, I think?)

something usefull on those small screens besides coding while travelling...

Yes but even some of the new on board cards are starting to have shader support.

Thanks for your information so far. I want to do the main work on the desktop PC but I need something to do during mx lectures at university so a netbook will do it for me I think
