I want to export a simple level (say a room) created in 3ds max 8 to be used in A7. Could someone tell me the work flow please ?

For example:
1. create room in Max
2. export (FBX) to WED
3. Add models and entities within WED
4. use wmb file in A7

At the moment, I can't get textures to be recognized in WED. All I can do is export to MED. I don't want to use MED if I can help it.

I looked at one of Quads YouTube videos but I couldn't read the text or even follow it easily

Thanks

I think you'll need to import it into MED, so it can texture it, remodel it and make it engine-ready, then you add the model into WED.

I don't believe you could just export to WED from 3DS Max...

The issue with no textures is that WED wouldn't know how to apply them, that's why MED gets involved (as I said, it converts the model data to a format WED can understand and display).

Hi

Are you sure that you can't export .FBX files from Max to WED ?
My evidence would support that idea but I havn't tried this before

Thanks

I dont know about how well max exports (but that is what fbx's native app is i think), but wed does support textured (and baked lighting on a second uv set) fbx files.

i added youtube annotions to video for better readability.

i never tried wed fbx import, but you can try to import model to med and then MDL to wed.
