does anyone know of of a particle effects tutorial that teaches you the basics of particle effects, because using the manual i have had no luck creating anything.

try EasyParticle 3.1, and study code of created particle effect, if you're smart enough, you'll understand how it works

Easy Particle is for automatically generating effects, but useless for understanding particles. It does not even generate lite-C code.

Look at the example in the manual. Its a full working code that you only need to copy and paste in SED, then click the run button.

Also look at the particle example in the samples folder.
