Hi jcl

How do you and Conitec feel about IntenseX ?
Do you have a working relationship the developers ?
Is IntenseX what T7 should have been ?
What is the future of T7 ?

Thanks smile

IntenseX is not what T7 should have been, but the future of T7 is a good question.

While A7 is very successful right from the beginning, I'm sorry to say that T7 turned out to be a flop. Judging from the feedback, few are using it. The reason might be that the T7 / XML concept does not integrate into existing code, but enforces users to stick with the concept all the time. Gamestudio is supposed to be usable for beginners without any programming, but the current version has serious limitations in that regard. Therefore the future A7 template development will go a different way.

We'll keep the concept of two template parts, a frontend and a library. But the library will become much more flexible than T7. More about this will be described in the next AUM.

Why not integrate IntenseX instead?

Hi jcl

Thanks for an honest answer.

The reason T7 "flopped" is because it is too difficult to use. The concept is great, it's just not supported with examples and simple tutorials etc.

Why can't you create some Lite-C A7 templates (like the A6 ones) until you sort out what T7 will become ?

GameStudio is a great system but Unity3D will become a attractive alternative if you don't do something.

Thanks smile

I have tried to use the templates 7 for fun, and must admit
that I neither understand how they work or how to aproch to use
them by starting with the explanations in the included manual.

How should a Beginner fizzle that out without beeing totally
frustrated?

You need to do the following:

in the manual, in the introductory page:
link to a "Quick Start for Beginners" Page.
On this, dont explain technical details, but make a
Stap-by-Step list how to load a "Beginner Level" in Wed,
let the Beginner add 2 Enemies, and then hit compile+run.

This way the Beginner is happy to
1: undertand how he starts up the core editing tool (WED)
2: how to make changes to the worls on his own (Enemies)
3: how to compile and enjoy the results

In the following "Steplist" you can introduce how to build
up a simple Shooter-level from scratch, etc.
