I've been looking for a 3rd party world editor, because WED doesn't have the features our designer needs. So I figured, why not request them for WED? I think it could help a lot of people anyway, even though I doubt they will be done in time for us to use. So here goes:

*Ability to "paint" textures onto terrain and surfaces with brush

* Different terrain/block manipulation tools:
-Raise
-Lower
-Smooth
-Bulldozer
-Spline (roads and rivers)
-Etc...

You get the idea. You see these sort of features in other engines, and I think they could make WED an awesome tool.

look in "third party tools" -> "GED".
There is a realtime Editor in the making.

I did, but I see no explanation of what it does? Am I missing something? And more importantly, does it do all of this stuff?

Well, then consider the bulldozer and spline tools as my request then. That would be incredibly useful, especially for large terrain based worlds like I need, and I'm sure many other would like.

For terrain levels GED seems pretty useful (just played around a little bit until now). one very useful feature is to place the entities directly on the ground. that should come in handy for you, too.

*flips the bird at nowherebrain* wink

Yeah, this post was first, and I DID see your posts under the GED thread. I made this, then was directed to the GED thread. It was there I wanted a feature list. Then when I discovered there were no plans to make tools for splines, bulldozers, and other useful terrain manipulation, I turned that into my official feature request.

Where is that brain of yours anyway? smile (just picking on you, lol)

A little side question:

Any idea when the first stable release of GED is going to be available?

It has been discussed a lot smile

Some of us think All in One in WED would be the top :
WED, MED, GED : all in GED !

But it's ok by now with Ged and some revamped interface for Wed is in the Forecast !

Why using WED while GED is here?? (Ok, not really here)
I'm using GED for my whole project right now.
