Upgraded machine recently. A7 Wed/Med not working on new machine.

A6 on same machine works fine.

All A7 edit windows in Wed do not render anything-- all blank. No grid. Wed rendering setup is identical in A6 and A7 versions. Items appear in text scene tree, but not in edit windows.

Machine:
P4 Intel w/ Windows XP Pro Sp3
Still haven't installed a video card-- using motherboard video output for now. I'm hoping a new card will fix it?

Updated Direct Drivers to latest.
Updated GPU Drivers to latest.
Still 3D edit windows do not render.

Strange that A6 works but A7 does not...

You need at least DirectX 9 of 2006 or newer for working with Gamestudio. Otherwise, use the DX8 libraries. But the engine won't then properly work either.

Direct X drivers are/were updated. Double checked. Used microsoft direct x update program.

New info:
Uninstalled A7 7.8 (the one that did not work) and found old install exe for 7.5 on my machine from months ago.

7.5 works fine vs latest 7.8 does not.

Maybe something changed in A7.8 vs A7.5???

Yes, something changed, otherwise it would not be a different version. However, be assured that WED and MED still have visible windows in the latest version.

As you're the only one with this problem, it might be some problem of your PC. You mentioned that you're going to replace the video card. Check if you still have problems with the new card; if so, please contact Support. They'll then walk you through some diagnostics.

Of course in the context of the message, I was making a reference to changes related to rendering code or requirements for Wed and Med-- changes that would result in A7.5 Med And Wed rendering and A7.80 not.

Well...I'm the only one that has reported the problem-- very few users relative to total users report issues.

Nonetheless, perhaps it is a rare problem or one unique to my machine. We'll see if a card fixes it.

Sounds like a DirectX issue.

Win7 comes with DX11, the DX updater does NOT check for DX9 runtimes.

Many Win7 users are having issues with games since DX9 is not included.

Download & run a DX9 installer and it should be good to go.
