Hello,

I need a plugin for MED or a seperate app which does the following:

  • Load/process a MDL. The MDL consists of several groups. Each group has to be exported/saved as seperate MDL with batch filenaming conventions like "m001.mdl", "m002.mdl", etc.
  • The source MDL has external skins. These external skins have to be kept inside the exported MDLs.
  • Each exported MDL has to be centered in the middle of all vertices. To reconstruct the original model, a file has to be create with each modelfilename in each line followed by a x,y,z coordinate offset how to place the model in a new level.
  • No animations and no LOD steps are required to be kept.

If you are interested write here or send me an email and we can negotiate something. Providing source code is not mandatory but would be nice.

Best regards,
-Christian

I will have several huge models with several groups. What I need is a dynamic LOD for each of these groups but unfortunately LOD steps are only available via model origin evaluation.

Thanks for your offer, ventilator. I'll check again and come back to you by the next 6 weeks when it is clear if I really need it because 250 is too much for me atm.

Best regards,
-Christian

i think 250€ would be adequate for something like that but i know that budgets often are limited in this community and i would also do it cheaper for you. laugh

what is your content pipeline? ...since i wrote a tool for caitlyn some years ago which does a similar thing with .obj files and maybe could work for you too. i think she provided a download in some thread but probably it's a bit hard to find with the forum search.

I am working with Cinema and it is horrible how MED can't import their exported files correctly. So I export the whole scene by materials via FBX because unfortunately MED somehow only finds and loads only one texture. So, after merging, I have a mesh with several groups. These groups are not due to the different material meshes, those meshes consists of groups, too. So basically, I will merge my scene eventually by 5-12 imports and the whole scene consists of a total of 64-128 groups.

I could go without that group tool if I had a tool that would import my Cinema 4D scene correctly once. That would save time even more!

i know these kinds of problems. that's why i wrote my own exporters for maya and blender. i wouldn't have had the nerves to continue working with gamestudio without them.

i don't use cinema4d but i think it really would make sense for you to learn COFFEE (shouldn't be hard) and write your own exporter. that would be a much cleaner solution than some post processing tool. maybe you could also make some money by selling it to other cinema4d users.
