hello!i have a quick question...If i have a medium power computer what should be the maxiumum number of polygons that i should use to make my game run faster than 40 FPS?

@Ted22: we can't help you with this kind of thing if all you say is "Medium Power PC". The word "Medium" is relative and doesn't tell us anything. Give us your specs and then maybe we can help wink

BTW: Poly's can be only a part of the problem. For example, if you are using a very large resolution for your game, it might run a little slow.

ok...let's say that my game have 1024X768 res and the medium pc haves something like 1 gb ram 2.11 GH procesor dual core.

Your CPU power
Your GPU power
The complexity of your scene
The complexity of your script

I think there's a spot in the manual that goes over this, and offers suggestions for increasing your speed...

I would go with Sylars general information as I know of my own experimenting that exactly that is the case independant of the hardware which of course doesn't have to do with the maximum polycount. Thehardware is only important for the speed of your scripts and so and thus also don't penetrade with the polycount number.

I agree, I can have 16 fullscreen shader effects, and that does not drop my FPS... unless ofcourse I go over the max poly count as stated by Sylar.
