Any game that uses models of Dexsoft has to look impressive grin . I agree with the Damocles you must show us something more, story, gameplay ... some video...
Of course, pictures look great but I think you put in early in the Showcase. Just so continue the good work wink

why, it looks nice, and shows that with decent art, a7 is not a bad engine.

its ok where it is, it shows that A7 can produce good visuals BUT i do wonder what the fps is, especially those shadows seem like stencil shadows? is it even playable or just enough to take a pretty screenshot plus you didnt write much info so doesnt seem like your too over excited about the post? idk, a lil info would be nice

those are not, look at the tree, there are shadows thru the alpha in the tree leaves. stencils cant do that.

I don't care about shadows !
It's not what makes a game , even simple blob shadows under characters and ennemies will work great .

And It's not A7 that makes the scene beautifull , but the 3D art, will one day all programmers will understand that laugh laugh ??

What will make the game shine is gameplay and some more quality ennemies.
The heroine is a great model, even if we couldn't change armor, varied powers and classes would do the job for example.

Personnaly i think you could take , two easy paths :

- A simple hack and Slash but very fun and beautifull, with top effects, with very simple story , a diablo like !

- Action (rpg)game : Ninja Gaiden style (or Bayonetta style) !
with power ups and different weapons to unlock trhought progression.

If you use the shaders you already have with additonnal same quality models and levels you have a winner laugh !

no ones saying that shadows are important, inferno was just stating that the scene would run slower with stencils than with dynamic shadowmapping, and questioned how well the engine was running that scene.

I probably got you wrong, but that seems to be bullshit...
Do you really think that a scene with high quality models looks as good as the same scene plus well colored soft shadows and nice shading?
Yes ahdows don´t make the game but they are one aspect to make it look beautifull.
And I btw think that most "programmers" with some knowledge about graphics programming know, that the engine doesn´t make a scene look beautifull, but all aspects together. Without some kind of a graphics engine you wouldn´t even see the great models, without any shading, one would probably notice that the models may look good, but the scene still would not look good.
So the real art is to combine everything in a way that it looks like it is meant to.

The two screenshots presented here, show some very decent models and nice shadows. The biggest problem here is the specularity which is a lot too much and makes all the nice models quite ugly.
