Thanks for the response guys.

I've used a set of animated model tiles to create the near-view waves and a terrain for the distance. It looks great but now I can't determine the height of the water as the waves animate! c_trace just remembers the first frame and ignores the subsequent animation.

Widi - I haven't played with shaders yet. Does the CullMode = none make terrain observable from underneath?
