Hi all,

We are in the process of publishing a comprehensive Milkshape 3D low-poly modelling tutorial, which will tell the beginners how to start making your own game models from scratch, not omitting anything and leading you all the way through this process. For demonstrational purposes we will be creating a patrol (or guard) robot. Tutorial describes all the steps for modelling, UV mapping in LithUnwrap, painting robot skin in Paint Shop Pro, then animating the model and exporting it for use in 3D Game Studio engine.

First 3 parts of this tutorial have been already published on our website in "Articles" section. Here is the link: http://www.gamedale.com/modules/articles/

Depending on user responses and demand, we will be releasing the remaining parts of this tutorial pretty soon. I hope they will be of some help to you guys.

Cheers,

Great start. Maybe a few examples of vertice movement to reshape a part of the model would have been more clear than the explanation. For example: use vertice movement to provide shape to the formarm and upper arm (I know this does not apply to robots necessarily).

Can't wait to see the rest of the tutorial. Keep up the good work.

Marcus

Thanks for the feedback, Marcus. Very much appreciated.

The fourth part of tutorial (modelling the head of the robot) has been released, if you haven't seen it already...

Oh, sorry for not including this information into tutorial - I'm going to fix this.

URL is http://www.milkshape3d.com , go there, download trial version, start working. If you'll like it, there should be registration form on that website - just follow instructions. Milkshape costs 25 USD, which is dirt cheap for this great software.

I am very interested in Animating and Exporting because I can not get my animated models to 3DGS without some errors. I mean anmation is not the same.

Exactly! That is the reason why I wanted to combine all the information in one single tutorial. I also get those errors, but I found a way arround it until Mete Cirragan will release a fix for this in Milkshape.

5-th part of tutorial has just been posted. It tells the reader about UV mapping process in LithUnwrap. More parts are coming within next days. Stay tuned.
