Hey I need help getting started I have no money to buy the full version to make it easier on myself but does anyone have money to throw around. But lets get to the point I'm trying to start but no model making software lets me make and models with the file type .mdl . This is a serious problem for me and my friend we have tried blender and it makes .blndrmdl files or something like that. I have just tried renaming lets say ex: cube.blndrmdl renaming it to cube.mdl it should work somewhat but it doesn't it says invalid .mdl file retry?

My question is. Is there a model maker that supports only .mdl not made for old source engine games(ex:steam games made by valve) that I can't use.

Well If anyone has some suggestions Please help me I really need it.

Hey welcome to the forum.

Changing a file extension will just change which program the file can be opened in, it won't change the data inside the file.

I'm sure blender can export to one of the popular formats like .3ds, .obj, .x, etc. You can then use MED (Model Editor) which comes will lite-c free to import your model and export it to the .mdl format.

You could also try using milkshape 3D for the modelling stuff. Hope it helps.
