get directx9.0c and install that regardless.
If that does not work, like Quadraxas posted, please tell us the exact error, and we might be able to help you further with the issue.
Also, what always helps too is to post specific specs of your computer.

I'm running win7 too, and A8 and A7 and A6 all work here without any problem laugh
