an old fashioned webplayer really wouldn't make much sense. the gamestudio team isn't big enough to support all the browsers, handle security issues, do enough marketing to achieve a big enough install base,...

but once gamestudio supports opengl es (it doesn't look like this will happen (soon) but it will be necessary if gamestudio really wants to support the interesting mobile platforms) then it shouldn't be that hard to support google's native client too. google's native client allows to run native code in a secure sandbox in the browser. no installation of a plugin is required. applications compiled for it also automatically are multiplatform (different browsers on windows, linux, osx,...). this would be awesome.
