Ok, so am just making a request to see if someone with the time can walk me through the creation of an online serverlist, its really the only thing in my game that i think i may have trouble with, yes i know there's some template but am not really sure what its asking of me...

So a walkthrough on it would be helpful

i think the idea behind a server list is really easy:
you need one official server
this server has a database and a script, which runs on it
this script has following tasks:
- return a server list
- add a server to the list
- delete a server from the list
now your game server:
1. Start a server
2. Say your official server side script that it should add your server with ip
3. Let your server do it's stuff
4. If your server shut's down, say your script that it should delete your server from your list

a client calls the script with which returns your server list

i think that's all you need to know to create it
you can use a http web server and php
and anet's http functions

hope it's clear enough

Yes it was clear however i'm aware of all of that but as for actually doing it and going through each phase, as said, i know nothing about php, how server databases work and all that, I've been strictly a scripter, so am referring to the actual steps, thats why i asked.

Anet's template already states all of what your said though...

if you have a server, i could create the server side for you
it's not so much work, maybe half a hour
i like your game, so i want to support you grin
you only have to say which items you want to see in your server list

Darkinferno, I totaly rewrote the internet server list template and I would need a beta tester. If you want, I could send you the new template? It's much cleaner and easier to implement now (no sql or php knowledge required). But I need ~half a day to finish the documentation and do some code cleaning and I only have some free time after christmas. So it will be finished in around 1 1/2 weeks.


ANet - A stable and secure network plugin with multi-zone, unlimited players, voip, server-list features,... (for A7/A8)!

I have also an Serverlist script which is already used in Superku skate.
If you want, I can give it to you too (its a set of two .php files and one .c file).

@Dark_samrui: sure, clear plus easy helps alot, less time spent on some systems means more time on the game itself, looking forward to it...

@JustSid: sure i wouldnt mind taking a look at it.


I think you guys will be quite surprised when we reveal our project wink and i guess we'll be needing testers one day too wink
