Its essential to draw a fitting bitmap as a normalmap...just compiling the standard texture will lead to bad results.

As for bricks: Remove most of the bricktexure and replace it with a bright gray...so that you basicly only leave the black parts between the bricks. Clean them up a little bit to avoid to noisy gabs.
Add some extra time to dodge and burn some variations into the gaps. That should do the trick.

In 90% of the cases you will have to rework the original texture to get a good looking one.
Just running it thru a plugin is simply not enough.

Same goes for specmaps, lightmaps or env.mappings.
