Imagination. wink

No.. it is just a small calculation based on competitors. In several months i do bidding for the cheaper price <=> implementation/conversion for gaming-console support. Edit: license fee & console-support (powered by the engine) is meant.

I have no more question at moment. The next one goes directly to conitec. I ask about the xbox support again in several months.

In this time i do create some more deeper tests with 3dgs, unity and some other engines (community support etc.).

Into the next year the real work does begin... but this is a story wich is here completely offtopic.

An XBOX 360 port of a particular game is a little more expensive than that - it's about EUR 25K, dependent on the script size and some other properties of the game. On the other hand, it's not a year, but about 4 months. When your game is ready, you can contact Support for a quote. You'll need Microsoft approval, of course.

Think you get an engine developer for 2700€? Dream on wink Even if you do, he won't be skilled to handle that task in one year I guess...

To do port a bigger game is a big hassle in 4 months. Is here no core of a Acknex-XBOX-Edition?
It would be easier copying some 3DGS files into one folder and clickin on "convert.bat". Open the result in MSVC#2010 and press "run".
Only in this case i sell max 10.000€/$ for a _real_ acknex engine xbox port.

I have no 25k available. Max is 10.000€/$. I choose the cheaper solution for implementation/conversion (gaming-console support) at time. In one year.

PadMalcom: i am byself skilled to do make a port of the acknex engine. But ...
1. ... this is nothing my intention.
2. ... not my life-time-job for months.
3. ... nothing my task.
4. ... this would make jcl (and others) realy angry.
5. ... i have other things to do.
6. ... other projects to do this year.

by the way.. do you have ever worked for lesser than 1200€ and big boss got 80.000€ per year from your work? 2700€/month is big money.

I know one guy he maked great games for nothin..

Dare to Dream is an adventure game produced by Epic MegaGames, now known as Epic Games, released in early 1993 for Windows PC. It is the second game designed by Cliff Bleszinski, after The Palace Of Deceit: Dragon's Plight. It supplements text adventure-style gaming with graphics, although Dare to Dream relies more heavily on the graphics than its predecessor.

Nooo ... AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!!
There are good games made @ basements. These sort of games are named like MineCraft etc. they are good sellable.

I do not need 5mrd. .. 2mil are ok.

The next step is to do the same (a big sellable product) but bigger > more sellable.

@Ocigam: When you are able to write a cross platform compiler then you should do it. Not only as an impressive reference project for your future job life but also as possibility to get your code bought by Atari or anybody else!

Concerning the 2700€/month: In Germany the first paycheck you get (after studying computer science) will pay you ~3700€ which is 1000€ more than 2700€. And I do not believe that any company would hire a newby when it comes to a task like porting a game from PC to XBox! (At least Conitec wouldn't, I tried it wink )

Anyway, this "convert.bat" would be a great thing grin

On a related note, could you give some kind of estimate for getting a GS game to use OpenGL and Cg instead of DirectX and HLSL? And if someone was to pay you to do that, would GS be cross-platform from then on?

I'm not exactly rich, but a lot of people have asked for a Mac or Linux version of KarBOOM (even at this really early stage), and who knows, maybe one day I will have money laugh

Writing a compiler is no problem for me. I huv one small C-a-like-Compiler done in two days... The engine (+support for all commands and files!1) is the big thing.

So far i see the price here. Conitec needs 25k$ to do port a game. This is ok since this is a job. ^^

Do not forget Gamestudio is meant as Dev. Tool nothin as enterprise game engine. Therefore Acknex have many features/functions to do compare with midprice game engines.

The bad thing of all is: incompatibility with game consoles.
The game must realy being ported so far i huv readed.

It would be a completely new project to do make a acknex game engine wich works with projects files on xbox, ps3 etc.
On the other side is the calculation. Is it pricely better to do port the game directly or program the big engine?
I think to do port the whole A8 Engine for 25k.. give me money! grin

By the way... All A6 Games does work with linux. You need therefore to do install WINE-HD on linux and a good linux graphics-driver.
