Dude, do you know what the second sentence mean? Yep, I know what it means. And it sounds hilarious if one translates it word by word into german or english I was in Gatchina, fairly small town near St. Petersburg. We chilled a lot in this park (59.563707,30.114309 Stupid AJAX base web stuff. Copy'nPaste it yourself into google:maps) (and it was terrible cold and the water didn't made it better). and there is no need to prove that you are adult, which isn't good to my mind... I was asked multiple times for some kind of identification, but they always was a little bit confused about my german passport and sold them anyway ^^

Not really, it doesn't mean cheers. It something that Russians say right before drinking vodka In English "Cheers" is something we say right before drinking any alcohol. Jibb

Why everyone keeps saying that Russia is so cold? No it is not. And there are no bears on the streets playing the accordion and drinking vodka Sid, they were asking just to have a small conversation with someone out of the country. In small towns they are always curious about Aliens If I do right now in any store and will ask to sell me cigarettes or vodka, no one will ask me to show passport and to prove that I'm adult. Jibb, still the meaning of the "Cheers" isn't same with "Vashe zdorovie".

Jibb, still the meaning of the "Cheers" isn't same with "Vashe zdorovie". Out of legitimate curiosity (that is, I don't mean to be facetious): why not? To me, saying "It's not 'cheers' -- it's something we say before drinking vodka," is like saying "It's not 'hello' -- it's something we say to greet people." Jibb

Why everyone keeps saying that Russia is so cold? Probably because it is? Nah, I can imagine that its not that bad in summer, but it is cold in early winter (and I guess it doesn't become better until spring)

Yeah, winter is cold, but in last few years, it's not that cold as it used to be before. Now winter is like autumn... (with a little bit snow) I've never visited Germany, but I would like too, I think it's one of the most beautiful and clearest countries in Europe. Jib is it cold in Canada? I heard winter there isn't warmer then in Russia I think, it isn't that important what you say before drinking vodka (or whatever), the most important is the company around you while drinking it. And I think this is same for all races and nations

It is cold in Canada, but I'm getting used to it (we've only lived here a little more than a year). It's about -7 C here and it's only 2:45 in the afternoon. How cold does it get in Russia? Or at least (since Russia is quite large), how cold where you come from?
