@DeepReflection: They made a statement about commercial things:

“For those who want to make the step into commercial gaming, we’ll offer a royalty-only license model for games made with this SDK, where Crytek require only 20% of the developer’s revenues from the commercial launch of their game.”

Sorry, no offense to you, but some people can't accept the fact that Windows, Linux distro of choice, Mac OS X, BSD flavor of choice or even Solaris, that they are all mature operating systems and some people just don't like Windows and use something else which they can use the best and like the most.

Oh its not that i think windows is superior in anyway. I just think that its the easiest choice for game design since its till the slightly biggest market, then again its also got the most saturated market so i guess argument could be made there as well.

Well the autoexec.cfg did the trick! However I still got a windowed mode and hum, far less detailed (actually look bad) experience than in the Editor (system.cfg seem to have some importance like enable full screen, but it will not run with that enabled). Do you have a link or something what more options to put in the .cfg files? Can I put in options like fullscreen, 1920,1080 and similar? You don't need to teach me just point where I can read up about it, please?

Whoever has the gold makes the rules.

Think about paying for a license for about 500.000$ wink If you game fails on the market you don't have to worry about too high license costs!

BTW: There was an interesting article in the iX Magazine about game engines. The most attractive licensing model for developers is the "first test it for free and then get an engine flatrate for entire development".

The thing is that hardware is optimized for DirectX & Windows usage. Also, since Microsoft has the biggest market share, they dictate what comes next. OpenGL might not be bad (I know it isn't bad, I've used it more than DX), but still it's only adapting DX features. So every OS which does not rund DX natively will always be 2nd to one that does.

Also, to be a mit more on-topic: the UDK has an extremely steep learning courve. I couldn't wrap my head around it.

having learned basics of both engines(ce3 2009, udk 2011 ), they have pretty much about the same steep learning curve. But somehow i felt more comfortable with UDK.
