Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has a simple answer for this problem with the new shadow system. I did a search but did not find anything I just recently updated to A6.32 and have these "attached shadows" from model to the floor surface. And no it is not bending against any wall just a straight shot down.

On small surface areas its like the shadow streatches form model to floor.
Here is a screen shot shadow problem

Any kind of easy fix or work around would be nice.

this is well known issue with stencil shadowing techniques, not a bug in the engine or anything. The problem is your mesh is not "closed". A closed mesh means that there are noi double edges or open faces etc..It can be very frustrating to fix, especially in complex meshes. MED gives you a tool that tests whether your mesh is closed. The problem is tho, sometimes while the first frame test ok, other frames become not closed. either go through every vertex one by one, or just use the old shadowing technique.

Matt, thanks for the explanation. This seems to be basically my problem. However, what I also found was that the way in witch I closed my models was a problem. Making sure no ends came to a point helped get rid of the remaining shadow errors. That is to say, a mesh ending in a mesh not a vertex seemed to work properly.

Anyway thanks again.
