your video card should be fine, maybe a driver update could help (which is not always true like in my case, for my old geforce card).

A8 uses the latest, or at least a newer update of DX9c than A7 used (e.g. my old laptop video card cannot run A8 - but in this case the screen is blue (or maybe different if you set it before level load) because DX surface is not even initialized). moreover, Microsoft did not give to DX updates new version name, maybe because they are funny people, or have financial problems
