Just a little question for you, when you're back from holidays.

Is there any chance ro get a direct FBX support for the acknex Engine? Cause i got norhing than trouble by trying to export my models with C4D and import in MED just to save them as MDL...
a direct FBX support would help really much, cause nearly every 3D modeling tool has a FBX exporter or Plugin. MDL seems like a bot existing file format for all that programs ._. And the way with export>import(if possible without error)>saving, is bad when i take a look at other engines wich can handle fbx or 3ds directly.

You should try to import your c4d models into the newest Blender and then export them via FBX. Blender FBX -> MED -> MDL7 works. Just make sure to choose the right options while exporting.

for all my models

Or when i try to export as 3ds/obj, there´s no Mesh or vertexes in MED or C4D.. like it can´t export the mesh ._.

some exporters/importers do not like "strange" characters like ü, and spaces in folder path. it can be a source of your problems both on export from c4d both on import to 3dgs. I always create short folder paths very close to root.
but yes a direct and up-to-date fbx support would be really comfortable laugh

i tried with d:/models/
still the errors..

trust me.. i tried everything.. exporting with c4d, blender, wings3d, 3dsmax.. i tried with every setting combination that is possible... i can open the models without problems in each of these programs.. just MED gives that error. I tried to reinstall 3DGS 7 times now - still error.


This MED import > save as mdl, sucks as hell! And i really need this models! But now, after 2 months of waiting for a solution in my topic (editors forum), and reinstalling, export tryouts and error after error with MED, i'm nearly giving up 3DGS, cause of this less and useless fail in file format support...

1. Did you made sure to use the Autodesk 2010 FBX format? (Try the free Autodesk Converter if not)

2. Use Fragmotion to convert models, I've never made any bad experience with this tool.

for fragmotion it says upto"GameStudio A6 MDL7", any modelchanges since A6 to A8 which might break it?

okay, if other applications import well that exported .fbx model after converted to FBX-2010 by the free Autodesk FBX Converter (as I see 2013.2 is the latest version), then it must be a MED issue.
(and vertex quantity is max 65535, and tga textures are used, and no multi-stage animations in it)
another tricky route when no bone animation inside, if you import fbx to 3dsmax, export as ase, import to MED

but again another vote for direct fbx handling laugh

Hm, I didn`t experience any trouble with FBX handling in the newest Blender and the newest Gamestudio A8 Pro. I`ve got meshes with up to 8 textures and 63k vertices and it works fine.
Maybe you should try to completely reinstall Gamestudio and Cinema 4D.

fbx is really the only format in the past, where i didn't get any problems with materials or animations..
When i try 3ds, textures are completely messed up - and reskinning in MED is hell..
obj has no skin imported..

i try the ase way today
