This is a first beta of my very small (and BTW modest) tile editor for maze games (I called it TilED).
With TilED you can easily create a simple 2D maze (I could make it even 3D), store it and load it back again.
Currently you can:
Quote:
- create a blank level
- place some cube models
- remove them as well
- after that you can save the maze you've made
- load example maze ("tiles.str") or your own one
I'm going to work on different cube models, so you could easily use your own models with TilED!
After that, I'm going to work on model placement (grass, NPC etc), sound placement (3d sounds) etc.
Please note, that currently you can't test created maze, I'm going to create simple fps template at the end.
Plus to that, you can't place floor cubes, as I've said above, I'll start working on that, to support different models.

Controls, currently, all you have to know is:
Quote:
- tab (opens a menu)
- mouse wheel (zoom in/out)
- q (toggles ability to move with mouse)
- wsad/cursor keys (X and Y movement)
and please note, that shift will help you to increase speed
For those, who are too lazy to download, here are some screens:

And here is a download link:

Please test it, there might be bugs! And share your ideas, if you would like see anything in this editor.

Thank you for your time, best regards TRACER aka 3RUN!

Tested it:
The interface is really nice and cute, even the sounds. Saving/ Loading works fine, too. Things to improve/ add:
- You don't know where you are, f.i. near the right/ left side of the map. You could add a minimap or write (f.i. every 8th line) small numbers on the grid. The user then of course has to know the current/ maximal grid size, too.
- Switch between isometric/ perspective rendering and be able to change the camera's arc.
- As you've mentioned different tiles, maybe even different skins per tile.
- The ability to rotate tiles.
- As every tile needs one entity this could get a little resource heavy on big maps. You could try to implement bigger tiles for 2x2 or 4x4 areas (or something like that).

"Falls das Resultat nicht einfach nur dermassen gut aussieht, sollten Sie nochmal von vorn anfangen..." - Manual

Hi Superku.

- minimap is going to be there in next update
- you can already change between isometric and perspective renderings, but only from script itself.. I'll add this to editor as well
About grid size, it will be fixed to a limited amount of tiles, and probably there won't be a way to change it (about 9999 tiles per level).
- I'm going to add some kind of a tile previewer, and I'm going to use only one tile model, but with different skins.
- check
- yeah, I got your idea.. I would like to add mesh joiner, or something like that..
So when map is ready, I could make one mesh out of it.. but I'm not sure about this one yet.

Thank you for your feedback mate, I appreciate it! laugh

It lack some features :
Placing entities and their actions, caus alone this level editor is useless ... or perhaps you place entities (ennemies, coins etc ...) by writing directly in the file ?

ratchet@ do you have any ideas, why I've called this beta version instead of complete one?
Anyway, thank you for testing it! laugh
