no,we divide level to some parts. but because of gamestudio lighting system,we have so many problem to have a good looking level.
Thats why iam asking
my guess was that u split the maps, hard job with the lightning youre right.
May i ask what your framerate is on full game action ?
about 30 fps on a medium computer.
for setting lights we had many problem because level shader and objects shaders and car shaders must be sync.
finally,we made some shader (with different elements) that can produce same color and light for all objects in game by sun color and light in level
and there is a postprocess shader that add brightness/contrast/saturations to final scene .
lights and memory management is hardest part of project.
we have 10 cars and each has 4 body kit and each has 6 bodypaints so there are 10*4*6=240 bodypaints in 2048*2048 pixels. user can see all cars with all bodypaints in menu
we have 10 tracks that each has 20 loading image at 1280*800 and 20 information image at 1024*768 so 10*40=400 images
and there is many texture for levels
we have a career with 45 level that has different type race and AI skills.
in test time, when you test some levels , every thing is ok ,the problem occur when you try to play 45 levels.it means for each race you have to go to menu (select career level and car and other information) and then go to level and play Game.
we spent about 3 month to solve problems and errors.
