so like all of us i sometimes check other engines.
nice features , great editors..... fast workflow.
But with acknex I know how I make the player look at this point or do other things.
When I start coding in Esenthel, Leadwerks, Neoaxis, DX-studio Sauerbraten....I had to hunting numbers through matrices for rotate something. No ... at this point I remember Acknex and quit my exploring

Very insperational as a one man project !!
Yes the math is not simplified in most engines as it is in gs , thats one of the most attractive features about gs is its ease of use ... But with some time im sure any engine with a language so non restricted ,could have simplified easier understandable or Or more gs like math functions written based on the engines existing functions ..
I for one would love to see something like that with esenthel
Compulsive compiler

No not all engines go throught matrices. Take some engines using script : Unity ,LeadWerks, Shiva 3D, Axiom and others have simple rotation functions to call. Before saying things , you should try the engines or at least read their docs. Even 3D artists make games with Unity, so i don't think they knwo something about matrices rotations ?

Yes 3DGS is easy, it's a strenght, but other 3D engines have also same easyness if you are motivated to learn them.

A simple example : Again and again, another great looking little game made by an indie lonewolf : indie rpg action video It just shows even 3D artists that don't knwo a lot about script can go that far when you give them the best editor and workflow. So never be fan of one 3D engine only.

3D artists depending on their programming skills goging from none to good can have several solutions :
-Modding on popular games (could it be FPS, RPG, strategy) -Engine with plugins , templates and open editor features -Engine with visual programming language -Good game making software (Axis Game Factory)

that's ok Simply, these kind of games are not games IMHOThere is some good ones, even retro likes. Entirely made with scripting langage in Unity , by a non programmer and beginner in game making : Xenoid maze game Yes i imagine dialog system, inventory, particles, special AI will need good programming. But there are like i said tools , specially if you just mod some engine, games like Bioware have tools etc ... I target mobile games, and even simple games with great graphics will do it. -------------- The thread is Esenthel 2 , the debate of 3D artists Vs programmers is for another day
