Hi,

I went into the "Simple Pixel Shader Tutorial" section of the wiki. I have downloaded the file "pst1.zip". However, I don't seem to be able to get the effect of the shader to work (It just show the stone texture with no blending of any other textures). Of course, I have altered the PATH in the provided wdl to my own engine installation path.

Do I need to assign an action to any object before running the tutorial level? (since build and compiling directly doesn't work, I have used "pst1.wdl" as entry for compiling).

Also, there is no error returned by the engine when running the level, only that the effect just won't show up...

If there are extra steps needed in order to have the tute files working, please list the step out. For example, if there is a need to declare the use of textures (stone.tga, grass.tga etc) in the wdl script, please list them out. Or do I need to use dx8.1 as I have dx9.0c installed or...some other possibilities...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

the shader should work on dx9.0. I have it too. I think you have to copy the textures into your project directory.

Thank you for replying.

If by textures you mean: stone.tga, grass.tga and alpha.tga, yes I have them all together with the level, script files in ne folder. I just unzip it and everything is in folder "PixelShaderTutorial" (by default).

Check if the material name is the name of your texture. A "." have to be replaced by a "_".

It is material stone_tga{} but the problem still exists.

Check in WED if the right script is taken, and in SED the right level is choosen.
Try to start the level from WED/SED.

oh no, when I run in SED, one message pops-up, it says "stone_tga - effect unsupported by hardware"

Could it be my hardware now? I am using GeForce Winfast A310 NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 and it supports pixel shader and vertex shader 2.0+.

What is your hardware?? What pixelshader version can you run??
