Yeah, it also sounds like one of those old ribbon-based printers if you listen closely enough. Good observation. I was doubting if this would be of use, but it turned out better than expected. I guess I should record a 16-bit WAV version of it as 8-bit really isn't all that worthwhile.... The sample rate compensates for this as it's pretty high. And yes, 50,000 Hz is the true speed at which the recording was done (as you probably may know, I can change the sample rates with ease to as low as 1 Hz to up to 6 million (about what the sound card can handle (maxed out buffer)).
