If you have computers in your game, you might find use in these two different sound effects I recorded a very long time ago. Though they are 8-bit WAV files and monoural, the sample rate of 50,000 Hz helps. Both sounds have had their "volume" amplified to double, however. The first one is my current floppy disk drive (when I say noisy, I mean noisy). The second one, though much bigger and longer (same specs: 8-bit, mono, 50,000 Hz), is loopable and quieter. The quieter one died and I've replaced it with a backup which was very noisy. Hopefully you'll find some use in them. This way, you can choose your quality for MP3 or whatever. I'm completely unfamiliar with OGG so I don't know anything about it and it's specs.... The files here are ZIP files. Unzip them and you have the WAV files.

The noisy floppy disk drive
The quieter floppy disk drive - 1 minute and loopable

Edit: I could try to get 16-bit WAVs, but it might be a while.

they sound ok to me.
might come in handy

wish i still had one of my older PCs, could use a sound recording off the OLD IBM Hard drive The ones that realy 'chirped' so loud and that awful clatter when the heads reset to zero marker . you could hear them across a noisy room when they spun up.

I was thinking that would make a nice addition to put into mixing a background noise FX for like a labratory, computer lab room or in a large spaceships bridge area. already got some sutible sounds made up to start on a mix with from a Moog synth

In case you're wondering, I recorded this while I was copying several hundred files on a floppy disk. My current floppy drive is so loud, I can hear it through walls about 25 feet away, even with the fan on in the bedroom nearby. It's about as loud as a human voice in normal conversation. I've had these since 2001 (!; hence the created on date). I also have the sound effects of dialing in to the internet with a dial-up connection both a good connection and one that is faulty and messed up. I could add those as well (of the same quality as the floppy disk sound effects, but quieter).

I picked up a floppy drive several years ago thats very useful for back up.

the LS-120 ( they also made an LS-240 240 meg sized floppy disks)
it uses all formats/sizes of 3.5 floppys and the LS-120 MB floppys made for that drive.

you can still find the drives for about 35 bucks

http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=67886/search=ls%2520120%2520drive

and the disk for about 7.75 each ( they come in packs of 3 5 and 10 usualy

http://totalmedia.com/catalog/catalog_home.asp?CatID=2018&OID=-1&CID=&bustype=01

realy helpful when you don;t want to burn a CD till you got enough for a full CD

they arn't zip drives either, just like a normal floppy but uses an standerd IDE HD/CD/DVD drive connection instead of a floppy ide connection

I probably forgot to mention that I was copying useless files. I had a bunch on nonsense URL files on the floppy and I was just seeing how many of them I could fit on a floppy disk. It turns out that I can fit close to 2000 files on a single floppy disk (I've reached 2245 once).

Yeah, it also sounds like one of those old ribbon-based printers if you listen closely enough. Good observation. I was doubting if this would be of use, but it turned out better than expected. I guess I should record a 16-bit WAV version of it as 8-bit really isn't all that worthwhile.... The sample rate compensates for this as it's pretty high. And yes, 50,000 Hz is the true speed at which the recording was done (as you probably may know, I can change the sample rates with ease to as low as 1 Hz to up to 6 million (about what the sound card can handle (maxed out buffer)).
