Hi folks

I´m planning the features for MatsEd 3, and I´ve some questions for you. At first, here´s the feature - list so far:

-All features of MatsEd 2, plus:
-Up to eight dynamical lights insteat of one
-Checkboxes for flags insteat of sliders
-The values are extended for "extreme" materials
-Albedo integration
-Updatable
-Backgroundcolor or texture choosable
-Loading levels into the editor
-Define fog
-Define a sky
-Move camera around
-Entities and lights clackable for move / scale / rotate
-Value panel click and move
-FFP-Shader Library
-Values directly changeable by inkey
-Global sliders for ambient, diffuse, specular, emissive and lightcolour
-Change / Load Skins
-D3D_automaterial integration
-Material against tranparency sorting issues
-HMP Support
-WMB Support
-Window / Fullscreenmode
-Interface completely choosable english / german

I´m only at planning, so I ask you what features you want to have, perhaps I can implement them.
I know with the next update there is no real use for MatsEd2, so I want to improve it to load levels, so you can see directly if your entity fits with the environment. And for people which want to stick at 6.22 or 6.31 MatsEd 2 will be always a solution

Hi Leute,

ich plane ein wenig an MatsEd 3 rum, und ich habe eine Frage an Euch. Erstmal die komplette Liste bis jetzt:

-Alles was es in MatsEd 2 gab
-Bis zu acht Lichter anstatt nur einem
-Checkboxen für Flags anstatt Slider
-Die Werte werden erweitert um auch "extreme" Materialien definieren zu können
-Albedo integration
-Updatebar
-Hintergrundfarbe und Textur wählbar
-Levels können in den Editor geladen werden
-Fog definierbar
-Sky definierbar
-Kamerabewegung
-Entities und Lichter anklickbar zum verschieben/rotieren/skalieren
-Value Panel anklick + verschiebbar
-FFP-Shader Library
-Werte anklickbar + direkt per Inkeyeingabe veränderbar
-Umschalten / Laden von Skins
-Globale Regler für ambient, diffuse, specular, emissive und Lichtfarbe
-D3D_automaterial wird integriert
-Material gegen Sortierungprobleme wird integriert
-HMP Support
-WMB Support
-Fenster / Vollbidmodus
-Interface komplett umstellbar english / deutsch


Ich bin nur am planen, ich würde gerne wissen was Ihr noch drin haben wollt. Vielleicht kriege ich´s hin. Ich weiß daß mit dem nächsten Update MatsEd2 nicht mehr wirklich zu gebrauchen ist. Darum liegt mir vor allem das Level laden am Herzen, so kann man besser sehen ob die Entity ins Umfeld paßt. Und für Leute die bei der 6.22 oder 6.31 bleiben wollen,
ist MatsEd 2 immer noch eine Hilfe

Und nun will ich Vorschläge hören

I liked the matsEd 2 and Im looking forward to your next release.

#7 is what I'm looking for, others are great also.
One more request is it possible to move those lights
without clicking the "move light" button first, just drag
them directly.

Two more things if you don't mind,
- Move/Rotate/Scale entity without clicking "the button" first
- Keep Adjust Value Panel on screen with Max/Min button on the
top right corner

The above suggestions just want to simplify the operation.

hy,

ich weiss das ist etwas aufwendig aber wie wärs mit echt zeit fx. bearbeitung.
Also Bumpmap und co.

Thanks for the suggestions. I´ll try to implement them. The GUI will be a bit different to version 2. Yes, you´ll be able to click on the lights and the entity to drag them. Leftclick to select and move - rightclick to rotate, mousewheel to scale.

What do you think about shortkeys?


@Imp: Momentan könnte ich hardwarebedingt nur FFP-Shader einbauen, wobei ich null Ahnung davon habe. Einfache Dinge wie eben die Transparenzkorrektur gehen schon, in die anderen Möglichkeiten müßte ich mich erst mal einarbeiten...

Es dauert aber sowieso noch ein Weilchen, bis ich richtig mit Version 3 anfange.

Support Shaders please

You could make it simple and you support only prepared shaders so you do not have to create a shader editor software. But this way we have a cool preview possibility.

When you want to support FFP shaders then contact me and I create a bunch of common ffp shaders for you like terrain, bump map, glass, lava, metal, faked reflection. With that you could distribute your tool with a box to apply shaders right in your software and may be export the material with shader after that.

ich find doof, dass der hintergrund vom licht angestrahlt wird*einfach nur irgendwelche suggestions geben wollte*^^"
ausserdem sollte ne sperre rein, dass man nicht auf -0 kommen kann(und noch weiter)
ein gesamter ambient und sowas regler wäre auch gut(das brauchte ich =P) anstatt nur rot,grün,blau einzustellen, dass halt alles gleichzeitig erhöht wird.
ausserdem lief es bei mir nicht im fullscreen o.o
sondern nur in nem großen fenster, aber die taskleiste war immer noch davor.

hmm sonst ist es cool

hoffe da war was dabei, was noch nicht erwähnt wurde^^"

As I said, for shaders I don´t have the hardware. But for FFP shaders I´ll contact you

This time I want to sell the software if it´s going so big...

Hintergrund wird geändert, siehe oben.
Ebenso wie die -0 Sache... Für Flags wird es Checkboxen geben (an/aus)
Die Idee mit den "Gruppenreglern" finde ich sehr gut.

Das es im Window Mode läuft ist pure Absicht, so kannst Du gleich in den SED wechseln und den Code aus der Textdatei in Dein Skript kopieren.

The ability to change the skins and / or load a new one is a nice idea

@ all:
If I can I´ll implement the possibility to change the values directly per inkey.

Now I´ll add the new features to the list^^
