For Windows, DirectX is the future.
Im not sure if DirectX 10 will be supported on older platforms like '98 and ME though.

Redhat, SuSe, Knoppix, Limited support in
React OS. I'm sure many others just havn't tested.

Yes Emulated using Wine.
Wine works like a charm for A5!

I'm not sure I'm following you...
A5 dosn't use DirectX 10 and The version of
Directx installed on users computers
dosn't seem to stop the exe running as long as its
at least the same version as A5 or higher.

Well at least so far on my testing it hasdn't mattered.

(It also might work with really low directx versions...
don't know? That I havn't tested yet )

well i have a3 pro full boxed edition and the a6 commercial edition

let me say being poor definately show's you to look after your goodies , no matter how old ;p

plus i budget well to have both , im a hard task master with money!

but i love opensource , it levels the playing field for all

you dont need to spend the big buck to have what you want
