Hi Guys,

We had designed our DVD cover for our first game, but we are
not getting many positive reviews of the cover (even though
we like it ourselves - but it is the possible end users that count).

So, we are looking for someone to do a GOOD cover design for
the game (plus also do a version to be printed on the actual
CD) and a A3 poster. The cover gives an idea of the game headings and text
that needs to be there, plus anyone interested can go to the
website Abu Isa Games
and get an idea of the game to inspire them to do the
cover. The cover is for our first title : Abu Isa's Quest for Knowledge.

This is ofcourse paid work (you can quote your required rate).

I need to move on this asap, as we were supposed to send the CDs
for replication today but now we are delaying till tomorrow.
So quick response will be appreciated here or by PM.

Thanks,

Ads123

I can understand why the cover is being critisised.

The main feature of the front cover should be the game, either art work or in game shots, possibly a blend of both.

The scolls are clumbsy and completely overpower the cover, distracting from the image you have in the centre.

IMHO I would create something that was less confused, cleaner and more proffesional looking.

Finally considering you are using a JPG here, I would recommend re-sizing the image to a more viewable size, quality / dpi of the image is not the question here.

An idea of how much your looking to spend might help move things along in the right direction. Feel free to email me.

I thoight that was just a poster for the game. I didn't see that it was a cover . I'm not surprised either that it's receiving bad critism. It just doesn't look very exciting and needs to look more professional. It's a bit short notice to have somebody take on the job if the game is already late being sent off. If you do find anyone, I hope they put on their skates .

OT: 3 people from UK in 1 thread ; don't see that very often.

Hi IndiGlow and Tozzy and everyone else,

I agree with your comments about the cover.

I am looking to spend as much as required to get good results.

I would assume that a deisgner should be able to do the cover,
cd printout and poster all three in about 6 hours. And thus would
value that time as about 15 dollars per hour (in all 90 dollars for
all three things). If however someone feels they can give really
good results and have some samples to prove what they are saying
then they have the right to negotiate more. By the same token
if someones samples show his quality to be below the 15 dollars per hour
then the rate will be agreed likewise with him.

I know it is a bit late to get someone to take on the job, but initially
we were satisfied and were going to go ahead with the current
cover, but now are having to pull the cover back as in the last few days
a lot of criticism and also now from you guys in the forums.

Our CD is already with the Replicators, so we need to move asap.

By the way, whoever wants to take this on needs to have MSN to communicate.

Thanks,

Ads123

depends on what material you can provide for the covers the 6 hours might work. if on the other hand this has to be done as well i doubt it can be done in less then 10-15h.

personaly i would keep the ingame shots for the back and try to find a symbol like cover that fits your game for the front. this is more powerful especially if you dont have a gfp power horse game but focus more on gameplay.

something that pop up my mind right away is the hive/web/cluster look of your playfields. i would addapt this idea into the cover instead of those paper and stone look.
I dont know much about the gameplay but i assume those fields will be vital for it.

I would make (just a suggestion):
An old ancient building site of those huge stone blocks (a field of them as your playfield looks like). i would add some characteristik humans and construction workers into it. Those are place right now the last big stone into the ground to seal some sort of treasure or grave. (some yellow rays come out of the small pags to indicate something important gets closed away).

something similar like the pyramids and the old egypt paintings. where workers move those huge stone blocks with some wood stick and simple cranes to create something monumental.

just an idea though

cheers
