Hi, I´m new here and I have a question to 3D Game Studio 5. I search an update for my 3D GameStudio 5 Extra. I would like to update to Version 5.240 but I don´t know where I could find this Update (sure I have searched for it, but wasn´t successful) so could someone tell me, where I could find this update, does it still exists online? Please help me, if you can. (Sorry for my strange english, I´m a stupid german, hope you understand my problem) in german/auf deutsch: ====================== Hallo, ich bin neu hier und ich habe eine Frage zum 3D GameStudio 5.

3D GameStudio version up to 5.24 includes a software renderer which every Windows computer can support. The ones who have a DirectX 7- capable video card (note that I use 7- as video cards that came out during the late 1990s (in other words, ATI Rage Pro is a DirectX 3-capable video card, while Rage Pro 128 is a DirectX 5-capable (or is it 6) video card. However, they may have already got the latest version of DirectX (Windows 95 supports it up to DirectX 8.0a) or in case of Windows 98 or later, DirectX 9.0 (however, not everyone updated their version to 9.0c).
So there are developers who want to target customers who don't have a very high income, unemployed, or if they're doing a project in school which those including families with very low income or who are unemployed, may have got their computers with Windows 95 and don't plan to upgrade their computers to Windows XP.
Thus, developers will have to use a software renderer for those listed above.

Although it isn't on the downloads page, I glanced at the paths and file names for clues. Try these URLs:
http://server.conitec.net/gsa5/updext52.exe http://server.conitec.net/gsa5/updext24.exe http://server.conitec.net/gsa5e/updext24.exe
You will need your A5 username and password though. They might not be available at all, but they could still be on the server.
Why don't you want 5.51, the latest version for A5?
At first, thank you for the links. Unfortunatelly, they don´t work at all. And yes, like Grayson Peddie said, I would like to have the software renderer from version 5.240, so please if anybody know where I can find the update, please let me know.

The closest thing I know of is A downgrade to A5.24 sometime in the Next 1-2 years for A6 owners!
Here is the Article:
http://www.coniserver.net/ubbthreads/sho...true#Post520867
Though I wouldn't rush out and buy A6 just to be able to downgrade to this
I have Been waiting quite a while myself for 5.24 to become publiccaly available again.
Although here is a quote from JCL that might look good for A5 Software Rendering Fans

Yes, we still plan to release an A5 version once the 6.4 update is finished and released.
Hope the get through with all that A6 stuff I can Hardly wait.

Ok, seems as if I (we) have to wait for it. But, if there is someone out there, who has this update anayway, please let me know. Probably this one could post it in the forum, if it is allowed, but I don´t know if it is... probably not... I don´t want to buy Version 6 (a NEW Version of 3DGS) and then downgrade to 5 (and OLD Version). Sure, it is a nice idea, so every A6 user could switch back, if he likes to, but in my opinion it is weird solution. Or does Microsoft offer Downgrades from WinXP to 98 or 95? I think you know what I mean... (Sorry for my strange english, I´m a stupid german, hope you understand my problem)

Afraid thats not legal for another user to do so without specific prmission from Conitec
You see Each update is Specific to "Each user". You get a update or downdgrade and new Engine with your Name and info "locked IN" This Is why Nobody is Voluntarily handing out update... Beacuse it tracks right back to them. And if by some odd change somebody turns out to be a warez user guess who gets the finger pointing at them!

Well I didn't Even want A6 at all but They refused to sell me what I wanted.
But since then I have decided I want both ( Even if I have to pay for both!) Not that I like A6 in the slightest bit... mostly to convert A6 code,, and .MDL7 back to A5. After All why Should I switch back completely without support after all Conitec Isn't Exactly going to convert the Syntax back to A5 for me... or even better convert all those Excessively oversized .MDL7 back to .mdl4's for me.
Yes Their policy on Older Versions is Absurd!

Ok, seems as if it is impossible to get A5.240 , then I will continue using A5.05, which I have. Of course, I tried A5.51/5.52 but as I mentioned there is no Software Renderer and I really would like to have one... I know A5.05 is very slow in comparison to A5.51/5.52 but it still has the Renderer and I´m comfortable with that version. So the last thing I can do... Conitec or someone from Conitec... if you read that post, please, if possible - means if the update still exists on a server - could you probably reoffer the update A5.240 Extra (like you reoffer A5.52 here in the forum), that would be very nice and I think I´m not the only one, who would be happy about that

The reason there not offering it untill A6 version 6.4 is released is Quite simple They are Hoping: A.) Everyone Who has A6 upgrades to the New Version and is so impressed they forget about A5 alltogether. B.) Everyone who still owns A5 only upgrades and Spends more money And is so impressed they are no longer interested in A5 Myself I choose option C.) I have both A5 and A6 ( for compatability and preference) Also I use A6 to convert models back to A5. And I keep being a Nusiance on the Forum until someone from Conitec finally gives in... And says... okay, okay, okay.... Well provide Version 5.24 Software Rendering once Again to stop All the A5 fans from pestering us *** Teutonic Darkness ***
