and before people start claiming that i did something wrong with the shape
YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG ABOUT THE SHAPE! lol the sword looks really nice, but the blade looks like it's a cylinder, it has no sharp edge, or so it seems. maybe it's the mapping, that is too smooth (it has no sharp edges, hope you understand what i mean...) the medieval one looks really nice too

it actually had hard edges in maya, but med does still nor support mixed hard and soft edges, so i had to export it with soft edges
Christoph_B: Just my two cents but, it could be an issue with your painting so that may be why it looks a bit cylinderish. Perhaps re-check your painting on the model? or remember for next time . The blade is giving me the impression that it's rounded and I think that's why (because of the skin shading) . That's all I can think really. To be totally honest with you, I haven't had this trouble with my swords, you just might need to rescale your UVs or make the light shading wider. It still looks very good anyhow for a contribution .
EDIT: Took a second look; yep it's definitely got to be the shading m8 because I compared with your latest sword . Hope this helps.
