This shouldnt be a problem and Im sure Im overlooking something simple here, but I seem to remember being able to have blocks cast shadows onto terrain in the last version of A6-since updating to 6.40 my blocks do not cast any shadows onto any terrain in my levels.

I have tried placing blocks beneath the terrain, and have deployed dynamic and static lights, fiddled with ambient levels and attached various materials.I have also used a light-emitting mdl with the cast flag set. Also tried the new shadow variables but no luck.

As a workaround I even tried to stop using blocks altogether in favour of compiled map entities-but still no shadows at all on terrain.

Only models cast terrain shadows for me. Dont know what else to do.

If anyone can solve this problem I would also like to know how I might get shadows using a terrain Ive created using the MTLmultiterrain.wdl template.

Look forward to hearing anything at all.

Ehm, level geometry was never intended to cast volume shadows. You could write directly on the shadowmap of the terrain, there is a script on the WIKI which does this job. Or you wait a little bit: JCL stated that the Compiler will be able to cast block geometry shadows on static geometry (model without actions, terrain) and vice-versa on one of the next updates (has to do with the new render kernel).
