Hello,
I recently published a game and the client is trying to run it on a Windows ME box. I updated the Direct x file to the latest version from microsoft and I also installed the Microsoft accessibility file from the gamestudio downloads page.

The error occurs right at start up reporting in a windows box that "the gameMain has caused the gameMain.exe to crash" I notice on the white conitec box that the text displays as far as the sound card and then crashes. The PC is an emachines 633i running window ME. I tried switching the video mode of the monitor from 32 to 16 and that did not change anything. I tried changing the video of the game to 16 bits and that didn't change anything.

any ideas of what's cuasing this
should this be in another forum?

Thanks

Some possibilities:
1. The sound card/drivers are not DirectX 8.1 compatible. Try updating the drivers.
2. The video card is an S3 Pro Savage (I don't know about SiS). These cards do not properly support DirectX 8 and above. The only solution is to replace it (and you can get Radeon 7000 for $20)
3. Some other program such as spyware or a virus could be affecting it. Try running a scan.
4. The computer doesn't meet the system requirements. What are the system specs?
5. The operating system may be unstable in some way preventing it from performing properly.

Further details such as system specifications would be nice.

this woulnd't keep the game from playing at all. I developed with that card for about 3 months, the only problems I had was MED woulnd't run and Panels wouldn't display.

"4. The computer doesn't meet the system requirements. What are the system specs?"
That sould just make it run poorly or it would give an error that would say something simular. Such as "not enough ememory, 50 megs needed"

hi guys thanks for the input and quick response.
the system is an emachines 633i 600+Mhz/255MB Ram/windows ME OS/intel celleron proc/ Intel video card/ 20Gig hard drive.

The sound card is recognized (don't remember what it was).
on my xp machine (I used this to develop the game) at start up when the game loads the white box displays the mouse found, sound card, video card etc. On the windows ME box the mouse is found, the sound card is found (using the white box as verification), but before the video card is displayed it craps out. This leads me to believe it's the video card but I tried adjusting it from 16 to 32 and back (this coincided with me adjusting the game for 16 and 32 respectively.

I will try to update the video card driver, if one is available.

did the above statement shed any light on the problem?
Thanks for your help
