Hi I made a huge outdoor level and just put one model as player1 and I tested the level by running it in high def and so when the level load's I have the grass texture in high def and so is the animated sky and when I start to move my player1 model then my computer crashes would this mean my computer could not handel the high def's becuse it work's fine when I test it with the no_3d opetion which gives dull texture looking grass. I have windows 98 second edition,
and my ram is 256mb and not sure about the graphic card how can I look up the info of my graphic card on my computer? After I tested my level in high def's, after the crash when I shutdown my computer and the next day or so, turn on my computer when it start's to just boot up my computer crashes it takes me 10 times to turn on and off my computer in order to get my computer running. Would this be my graphics card is it possible that I damage my graphic's card or the RAM, also at times winzip gives me an error could not load becuse of low video memory. after that error I then click and open and runed winzip, winzip would work fine no error on that, it only gives me error's when windows boot's in the beginning where applications boot up and run in the backround.

Thanks for your time.

It's start->run: dxdiag. The 3rd page gives you information about your graphiccard.
For the 3d RAM, be sure that 3DGS can't damage your hardware in any way,
thats not possible.
But make sure that you have the latest Windows 98 patches installed, that your DirectX is
updated to the latest version (9.0c) and that your graphic-driver is also the newest.
Beside that, go to www.memtest86.com , download their tool and run it on an bootdisk,
to check that your RAM is not damaged in any other way, which would explain the crashs.

I bought a new graphic card and also updated my os to windows 2000 pro edition. and it's working great and I did alot of test's seeing what's the problem and found my graphic card got over clocked, and was damage and it all started after I tested my high def level and I only can guess that the gamestudio level I tested was too graphic that it over clocked my graphic card. but thank's on the input of idea's on what it might be, let's see if anyone else has this problem or every get's this problem.

Doubt that GS OC'd your card, that would have to be something you or the previous card owner would have to do. Im sure if GS went around OCing peopls vid cards, Conitec would end up with a very big bill....

OC is done by some 3d drivers, but only in some controlled areas.
Sometimes the manufactors offer their own drivers, which are manipulated
compared to the originals from the chip vendors (ati/nvidia).
So if you dont need this features, the original driver is the way to go.
Just in some rare cases the edited is necessary.

Thanks for your input. I have another question about TV'S like I connected my computer to my tv and it the picture of the screen was in only black and white, my tv's I was told are anolog, and my graphic card is digital color, would that mean that in order for a tv to show a color screen of my computer desktop I would need a digital TV? I used a S-Video cable one end has a S-VIDEO connector and the other end look's like a regular video connector like what xbox has that connects to the tv but only the end that goes into the tv not the xbox.

Thanks for your time.

If you know 100% that your tv is analog and your video output from pc is digital you need a converter or some type of modem to convert it. Look at a regular dial up modem. Your pc sends your modem digital waves and your modem converts them into analog waves and sends them over telaphone line...To tell you the truth, all the classes that I have taken in college says that there would be no way you would have a clear b and w screen on your tv if you were giving an analog tv digital waves....but I may be corrected as I do not know much about tv's. Are you able to try another tv?
