I used the facewound tutorial, and got to do some basic shader work on a test-model, but it is still lacks explaination of stuff like what is a view matrix and why use a matrix or vector, and I wanted to attempt to make a water shader, and I see some have been done with commercial, but how, cuz I cant render to a texture except using the bmap_from_screen, or whatever it is, which of course gives me a frame rate of approx 1 frame for every 2 seconds, and I can still delay it to once after every like 30 frames, but still stops for about a second everytime it updates, and I can almost guarentee that it has something to do with the view matrix, or projection matrix or whatever. So basically I need some explainations, and I know im gonna get the typical flames because im kinda a noob, but it's completely worth it cuz I have to figure this stuff out somehow, and I also know I'm not being that specific, cuz I don't know enough to even know what I want. sorry to bother you but help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe your sentences shouldn't be 3000 words long.

There are tons of explanations on the web about this basic stuff. Matrices and such are integral to Direct3D, and 3D in general-- start there.

well I understand the whole theory about changeing xyz values, on a matrix, but what about what seems to be the manipulation of the actual matrix itself? how does that work?
