Mmmm, I don't understand it either ... The back view looks in the direction of the backside of the scene, not the front. Do you import meshes from other programs? That might be the reason why you think it is the front instead, and yes you have to turn them to have the correct orientation (3dS for example needs this when exported from wings3d),
