Could someone please tell me how to make a level really dark, so that lighting is needed to see.
I have set the map sun and ambient to black, but the level that I have made is still fairly bright. I don't want pitch black, but I want my level to be dark enough so that the player has trouble seeing unless he turns a light on.

Thank you in advance

have you placed any lights into your level. If memory serves me right at least one light must be in the level.... Be sure that it touches some level geometry.. Just make it a very small light and hide it somewhere in the level if you dont want it seen.

Yes, like FeiHongJr said, you need at least one light that touches level geometry. Just put it anywhere that it touches level geometry...

BTW: How do you plan on lighting your level, dynamic lights? Just one quick notice, is that dynamic lights DO NOT cast shadows off of level geometry. Therfore, light will pass through the blocks into your buildings, or behind walls, etc...

and set ambient to null in the map compiler, not just the level properties.

Thank you for your replies. Not sure about lighting now. I will have to play around with the lights to get the effect that I am looking for. At least you have given me a starting point. So thank you once again.
