Hello to everyone in the shaders forum.
I am currently having trouble with models whose textures become offset when taken from MED to WED. This only seems to occur with models that are originally in the .3ds format. When viewed in MED, the models look completely normal, with the skins fitting perfectly. When put into WED, however, the skins make the models look completely freaky.
All of the textures are of powers of two (512x512, 1024x1024, etc...). I have checked the UV mapping in 3ds max, tried reapplying the textures in WED, and I have also checked the normals, which seem to be pointed in the right direction.
So, if anyone could help me out with this problem, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks alot.

First of all, do you use a shader? If yes, then there might be an error in that shader which causes the offset textures. If you have no shaders applied to the model, then you've posted in the wrong part of the forum hhehehe..

Have you tried exporting and importing to a different format?

I use the .3dS format all the time and have no problems with it, and since your model itself seems okey, it must be an import/export problem. Did you update to the latest version of A6 and tried the 'engine preview' within MED? Does it look correct there?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. Yes, when I preview the object in MED using the engine preview, everything looks just fine.
But, I also am not putting a shader on the model (at least, nothing more than the skin in MED), so you are definitely right, I should move to a different forum. So, if you have any advice on where to post this problem, I would really appreciate the input.
Thanks again for the help!

A moderator should move this thread, it should be in "level, models, terrains".

Anyway, I recommend you to download Wings3D (www.wings3d.com), import the .3dS file into Wings3D , then save again and import into MED this way, it might solve your problem. What program do you use to model?

Cheers

Thanks again for the help, sorry I didn't respond sooner, I haven't checked this post for a while.
I will have to see if Wings3D works. Also, I may try posting this in the other forum, thanks for telling me about that.
Oh, and by the way, I am currently using 3ds Max to create models. I make them in the .max format, and then export them into the .3ds format.

Thanks again.
