USA,
I know I know I know people are saying Gamestudio isn't going to tell.
Could anybody speculate when It is going to come out.
I really don't want to buy the A6 Engine.
People say it isn't all that great.

Is the Pro Edition going to be higher when the new A7 comes out.

USA,
I tried searching before I posted my question. I really don't know what keywords to type in. It would be easier if you just answered the question I asks.

This is my question too, I want to know when A7 come out. I have A5 Pro but the A6 upgrade seems not worth to me.

I can use Newton for physics, I don't need bone for model ATM, I like the shader but not really a must. But I hate the long long map compile time same as A5. It seems not worth to pay $449 for just shader and bone system upgrade.

I am worry if I upgrade to A6 if A7 release soon, I need to pay again. I purchase the A5 Pro from another person for $600 but soon the A7 release and it is just $899! A6 is more then 2 years now so I afraid the history repeat again.

But if I purchase the A6 today and get A7 for free, I will upgrade NOW.

A7 will come out when Conitec anounces it will be coming out, and not before. SInce they are still working on improvments/fetures to A6 it won;t be anytime 'soon'.

even when A7 does release it won;t be much more than A6 with a new Kernal because the latest changes to the A6 engine is preperation for a more modular engine and package for the later A7

So instead of pounding the boards with the endless flow of 'when is A7 coming out' questsion. just read the NEWs page. they will post it there when they will pass on when they intend to release an A7

It takes 2 years for an update lately, which means it will come out in +- 7 years. I wont be surprised if it really takes that long.

Seriously now, after my current project im leaving. Only because its too dated, and updates coming out too slow. I dont know what they are doing there at the conitec offices. Probably playing solitair.

if you had been paying attention to WHAT they were doing with the update of late ( obviously havn't been) they have been re-working the engine/tools into more modular components to make it easier and faster to do updates and fixs and get them back out to the community. Thus the long delay with the last update.

take a look at recent the beta release, its has fixs and updates released fairly frequently since the re structuring of the package.

Hiya.

Grimber: I know all about this...I've been here for years. I'm glad Conitec is making it moer modular and whatnot; I'm sure it will pay of in the long run.

Everyone Else: I feel your pain. I've been using 3DGS since version 4 (what's that? 8 years ago? More?). I love the program for what it can do. It allows for very quick 'prototyping'. What I, and a lot of others appearantly, are unhappy about is the lack of *direct* communication with Conitec. It's all fine and well to see a text file list of what they are working on, but that list doesn't really "show" anything or tell us what's going on. When a team of people are working on a project, and they come to a point where they REALLY need feature X, Y and Z, but the package they are using only has Z...well, they kinda need to know an approximate time frame for when to expect X and Y. If the time frame is waaaay far off, they have to either revise their project to not have X and Y, or they have to program them themselves, or they have to jump ship to another package.

I think what it boils down to is lack of reliable communication. I think, rather than a .txt page hidden at the bottom of the forums pages, there should be a major link on the main 3DGS page to a sort of "Developers Blog". Then, every day or three, the programmers responsible for whatever part of the engine, could update with some simple info. Now, I 'm sure some of you will be saying "But they can't do that, because other companies would swoop in and steel their ideas." Uh, this would be true if Conitec was doing anything -new-...but, lets face it, they aren't. They are trying to play catch up with the other game engines out there. EVERYTHING 3DGS has is available out there, in other packages. Where 3DGS has the edge, is that it is a full (mostly) development package; level editor, model editor, script editor, etc.

Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter. For my next project, I doubt I'll be using A6 simply because it's too damn old to do what I want as easily as it would be if I used some other engine. Hell, at this point, we (well, the programmers of the 'team') could have created our own engine.

Oww please hehehe let them just concentrate on the updates instead of posting their progress in a blog, any idea how time consuming that is?

Cheers
