From what I understood this was inconclusive because, number one, it didn't select one complete handedness (it only partially selected), and further it may have been the result of previously absorbed 'optically active biomolecules' which would only exist after life exists.
I've heard of this 'template' being used to select for handedness. However, this template had to be created in the lab. Answers one question while raising at least one other.
Furthermore, the monomers of opposite handedness that are incorporated into the 'template' are chain terminators. Which presents yet more problems. I'll have to dig up a source for this besides nature which costs $199 a year and $30 per article to view. I doubt you're going to pay that just to view the quote on that one.
