All modeling is done in 3DSMax 8. Then exported, and imported into med.
The problem right now is, when the model is imported to MED, it gets smoothed. I don't want this model to be smoothed. Its initially a machine. (..Last I recall, metal didnt look soft)
It looks fine if its changed to Flat Shaded, but its not flat shaded in the engine, so its just a problem.

Is there a script that would set a model to be flat shaded inside an engine, or a way to force it to be flat shaded inside MED.
Thanks in advance.

View -> 3d View -> flat shaded. (or texture map without shading).

Remember, med displays models different than 3dgs will.

Yea, changing how it is temporarily viewed, doesnt affect it in the engine. Its still smoothed.

Turns out I resolved the problem. It was dependant on the type of export and import. You cant use OBJ or 3DS.
Thanks for the help though fellas.

Hey,

i had the same problem. If you can use OBJ or 3DS, what did you use?

Happy Birthday!

Using 3DSMAX I did the following steps:
-Export model to WRL
-Import the WRL
-Export the WRL as a 3DS
Works perfectly fine, should work for anyone.

If you need an object to not get smoothed, do not export as 3DS or OBJ.

This doubles your rendering time. Better use the render state ShadeMode = Flat; in an effect
