here we're back again with another decision to make, this time concerning the background for the boxe's front image. here are two possibilities:

alternative lightening

alternative lightening

please keep in mind that neither the layout nor the arrangement itself is finalized, it's just the background we're after. nevertheless remember that Axys: Truth Seeker is a game for kids and teenagers, though we don't want it to look too childish at all. we want to communicate fun adventure...

Which one do you like best?

Really, if you just add something (like maybe a small character) near the players head in the dark "alternative lightening" one I think it'd be better than the lighter one.

i like the first one more, though, the dark "border" could be smaller.

btw, is it me, or is the hero (axys?) squinting?

The top one is the better choice imo as the game name is truth seekers, truth and good is generally associated with white/good, so darkness wouldn't work imo..

Nice work Joey.
I voted for the first one, but if you dark down the second on a bit and add a white glow around the hero so he stands out I think it would be as good as the bright one maybe even better

edit:
oh and maybe choose an different pose for the hero.
Maybe sword straight up and the shield like he is going to protect himself would make the cover a bit more aggressiv.
At the moment it looks like the hero is stoned or something.

Just my 2¢ but the darker image is more likely to appeal to the teen crowd. BTW, both look very good.

Cheers!

Both are good.. I kind of like the darker one more because it makes the character stand out better. Though the girl in the bottom-right hand corner somehow doesn't work to strengthen the composition. Maybe something a little more dynamic there? I really like the little metal robot in the top-left, brighter image. It'd be nice to bring him down to the darker one.

They're both good, but the thing I don't like as much about the first one is the kind of bleach-eraser effect used to composite the hero onto that scene. I think if that were not so conspicuous I might prefer the first.

More contrast might be a good idea on the dungeony background of the dark one, to create more drama.

In both cases, I think the shadow from the helmet on the hero's face somehow diminishes the facial expression. Maybe a little tweak to the facial expressions might create more drama.

I definitely suggest making the 'B' in Battle brighter.. It's sort of darker than the rest. (I first kind of read it as 'attle against the lies' on the dark one) Might even be good to try starting the radial gradient there on the B, rather than in the middle..

Amazing work!!
