G'day Guys, I made a quick game using models from Locoweed's site. LOCOWEEDS Great site. It is a remake of a few different platformer space combat games. Seriously. By making this game I feel I have put back game development by 20 years! Anyway have a look at it and have fun with it. SPACE ARCADE GAME Take it easy Static

Very nice job Static 707. Especially if this is your first GS assignment. Retro style is back in fashion, ya know Add some music and a few more levels and I bet you fit well into the $9.99 games' market!

I love these types of games, Static707. These are among my favorite arcade games, next to pack man and Metal Slug. I am actually in the beginning stages of a project like this myself. There are, of course, a lot of differences, but the idea is the same (top down craft shooter).
Also, I love the 2D game feel with 3D models. Again, one of my favorite feels in a game. So, basically, your game encompases most of my favorites in one. It may be a little rough around the edges, but all arond awsome. One thing, if I may suggest it, is you may want to add a difficulty level selector... I beat the game 1st try. However, this is only if you have plans to further develope the game, which from the soudns of it you are!
Good luck, Raddaddy

That wasn't too bad at all. Add some music, sound effects, and more levels (with some other ships with special attacks/features).
The mothership was a bit to easy to kill because it spawned all attack ships from same point. You might make the attack ships spawn from a few different places on the motherhip and even spawn different types of attack ships as levels progress.
I think the game area could be bigger, by moving camera view out some. The playing field seems a bit small. There doesn't seem to be enough time to react when the enemy ships come into view.
Add a time delay at beginning of game(level) that flashes "Get Ready" or something, so the player has a few seconds to get his concentration together.
I hate those slow bastard ships that rotate and shoot, which is a good thing.
Pretty fun stuff. You could actually take GameDev back 20 years with some improvements.
Dude, awesome work.
Excellent first game on 3DGS, Congratulations, Loco
