btw , this horrible rendering is only of the Skycube , not the whole game , everything renders real nice and smoothly , textures and everything , the only thing that is rendering zoomed like that is the skycube , this has to be one of the gayest things Ive encoutnered in gamestudio.

Maybe you all just havnt niticed it , as its more noticible with certain skycubes , with some you cant really see any pixalation , but they are getting zoomed in at 200% as well , you can tell once u check how the cube looks in an image viewer at 100% , and then how it looks in gamestudio.

alright, 2 questions: does the engine cut away some of the skycube? and is any part of it stretched more than the rest?

the reason i ask these is because no matter how big u or the engine scales the skycube, it ISN'T going to get more pixellated. the only thing that can cause more pixellation is that the skycube gets scaled DOWN. this would mean a smaller image, which has to stretch over a larger area. i hope u understand what i mean, because it isn't really easy to explain, but the area covered by each face of a sky cube is always the same. if u see pixelation, it's because the image is a low enough resolution that it has to be enlarged substantially to fill the required area. what u need is a higher resolution image for the skycube.

Well the problem looks like simple jpg artifacts.. are you using jpgs in your game? because if not what good does it do to show me a jpg when you are worried about texture quality..?

and even if u aren't using jpeg skycube, im afraid the image ingame isn't any higher res than the skycube (based on the screenshots). think about it this way: by default u hav 60 degree vision, which is a sixth of a full revolution. each side in a skycube takes 90 degrees of vision, or one quarter of a full revolution. basically with default fov, u r always gonna be zoomed into the skycube by a bit. that is less than 512x512 pixels being scaled up to fill ur whole screen with the resolution u r using.
